Art in the Park and Valley

St. Louis Park and Golden Valley are a sweet spot for art lovers! From public art installations to art fairs and exhibits, we embrace artistry in all its many forms.

Public Art

The St. Louis Park community is home to a variety of Instagram-worthy murals and art installations. The City maintains a list of public art, complete with an interactive map, that describes each piece and where it can be found. Some of our favorite pieces include the Historic Walker Lake Community Mural and the Full Circle sculpture at the West End. We’ve created a blog that highlights some of the best art-worthy selfie spots and showcases a few lesser-known murals that you won’t find mentioned anywhere else!

sidewalk poetry

Along with murals and sculptures, the City also created a sidewalk poetry program. Poems were submitted by residents and students and were sandblasted into local public sidewalks. You’ll find them in the sidewalk on Lake Street between Dakota Avenue and Walker Street, and on Walker Street between Lake Street and The Block restaurant, as well as other places throughout the city.

Artist Showcase

The Artist Showcase is an annual community art exhibit that celebrates the work of over 60 artists from St. Louis Park and Golden Valley. The exhibit typically opens in January and can be viewed for several months. In the past, artwork has been displayed at The Galleries of Brookview in Golden Valley, at Westwood Hills Nature Center, and online in virtual 3D and Instagram galleries. The displays feature both traditional art mediums, as well as VR, film, and other forms. The event is produced as a partnership between Golden Valley Arts and the SLP Friends of the Arts.

The SLP Art Fair brings people together to celebrate and shop local artist and maker booths, enjoy food trucks, entertainment, live art demos and community art projects. The event, held each fall at the ROC, features the artistry of over 70 vendors.

Golden Valley Arts

For over 25 years, Golden Valley Arts has been serving the needs of local artists, arts organizations and residents through diverse channels. They make recommendations about public art and champion GV artists. Through their efforts, a sampling of visual arts are highlighted on street banners throughout the community.

Since 1995, SLP FOTA has been serving the SLP community by bringing people together to support, promote and enhance the arts. In addition to supporting local artists through grants, scholarship and other programs, they also host Open Mic Poetry Jams (in person and virtual), community art walks, artist happy hours and community storytelling sessions.
