Go Retro in the Metro

In St. Louis Park and Golden Valley, we’re big on nostalgia. We know how to have good, old-fashioned fun – but with a modern twist. The whole family will enjoy these local attractions and restaurants!

Clays Galaxy Drive In

For the ultimate, out-of-this-world retro dining experience, head to this drive-in restaurant. Pull into the car port, place your order over the vintage-style speaker, and a car hop will bring your order right to your car. Or sit outside at one of the many picnic tables. Enjoy 50s and 60s music as you dine on handmade burgers, hot dogs, milk shakes, floats and more. Four-legged family members even get a free doggie ice cream cone.

The Roller Garden

The Roller Garden has been Minnesota’s #1 roller skating rink for over 50 years. Choose from roller or inline skates as you glide across the maple hardwood floor, accompanied by the latest tunes and, of course, disco lights! When you’re ready for a break, stop by the snack bar for a hot dog or cotton candy and play some arcade games.

Park Tavern Bowling & Entertainment Center

A local favorite for nearly 60 years, the Park Tavern is the perfect family hangout, with twenty lanes of bowling, arcade games, pool tables and dart boards. Hungry bowlers can take advantage of the full-service restaurant and bar, which offers a comprehensive menu complete with freshly-made pizza, killer tator tots, and vegan and gluten-free options. A large outdoor, pet-friendly patio offers the perfect spot to enjoy warm summer breezes.

Game Show Battle Rooms

Game shows have been popular since the 70s. At Game Show Battle Rooms, you and your family and friends can battle it out playing your favorite game shows. Your game show host will lead you through classic games such as Friendly Feud, Wheel of Phrases, and Name That Price. Or go primetime and play Minute Games, Matchup, and Friendly Feud. Plus, all bookings are private – you’ll only play against people in your own group, so choose your teams wisely!

3rd Lair Indoor SkatePark & SkateShop

Although you can’t catch big waves here, you can catch some big air. Skateboarding has been around since the late 40s/early 50s, and 3rd Lair Indoor Skatepark is the best indoor skateboarding park in the Twin Cities. Rent a board (plus helmet and pad) and try out your moves. Or hit the streets at Carpenter Park, an all-concrete outdoor skate park designed with stairs, rails, a mini half-pipe and more.

St. Louis Park Aquatic Park

Nothing says summer like hanging out at the local pool! The Aquatic Park offers 20,000 sq. ft. of fun. It features a “wade-in” water playground, two four-story water slides, drop slides, a diving area, lap swim lanes, a sand & water play area, concessions and more. A great way to keep cool on a hot day!
