Adam Turman Artventure

Brookview Golf & Lawn Bowling

This is just one of the stops on the Adam Turman Artventure. Read on to learn about all the cool things to see and do. Your artventure awaits!

This Artventure stop is a “hole” lot of fun! You’ll find Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox hanging out by the golf shop. Paul is working on his golf swing and Babe is only too happy to point out that he’s whiffed the ball. Looks like he might need to take a mulligan!

Golf

view from the green at Brookview

Brookview truly offers fun for the entire family. Older teens and adults will enjoy the regulation 18-hole golf course. This mature course is moderately bunkered with beautifully maintained greens and fairways. Bassett Creek flows through the course, crossing six holes. The course features multiple tee settings with total distance ranging from 6,397 yards to 5,328 yards.

The Par 3 Course is perfect for beginning golfers and young players but challenging and varied enough for experienced players who want to polish their short game. Sand traps, trees, and water hazards keep players of all skills on their toes. Perfect for those who want to get in a quick round of golf.

Just want to go out and hit a bucket of balls? Brookview has a driving range and a golf shop to get you outfitted in style.

Fun Fact: Brookview has been a public golf course for over 50 years! Originally built in the 1920’s by Thomas Walker Barlow and his son Archies, it was operated as the private Superior Country Club. It was purchased by the city of Golden Valley in 1967.

Lawn Bowling

Not a golfer? Give lawn bowling a try! Brookview is home to the largest lawn bowling green in Minnesota! Similar to bocce ball, in lawn bowling, players roll their bowls (a ball with flattened sides) down the green and try to get as close to the jack (a small white ball) as possible. This relaxing sport is perfect for all ages.

The Backyard

Exploring the Artventure with young children? Your kids will flip for the The Backyard, a year-round indoor playground that’s filled with super slides, twisty tubes, cargo climbs, bumper balls, log rollers, cave crawls and more.

Three One Six Bar + Grill

Afterwards, grab a bite to eat at Brookview’s Three One Six Bar + Grill, a family friendly sports bar that offers an assortment of burgers, entrées, appetizers, drinks (plus great tater tots). Get some fresh air on the restaurant’s expansive outdoor patio and enjoy sweeping views of the golf course. On cooler nights, dine by their cozy fire pit.

Not ready for the fun to end? Go for a walk next door at Brookview Park. Its winding trails will take you to a fun playground with hopscotch squares. There’s also a basketball court, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts and a horseshoe pit. It’s a perfect spot for grilling out and having a picnic.

For an even more entertaining time, travel a few blocks north, across Hwy 55, to Golden Valley Rd and Decatur Ave N. There you’ll find the home of Game Show Battle Rooms, one of the nation’s first game show experiences that all can enjoy. Face-off against your family and friends playing your favorite TV game shows facilitated by your very own game show host! Perfect for groups!

Craft Classes

If you’re feeling crafty, sign up for a lampworking class at Skylab Glass Arts and learn to make a beautiful glass pendant or drinking straw.  Or take a pottery wheel for a spin at Fired Up Studios and learn how to make a clay pot.

For dinner, enjoy critically acclaimed Asian fine dining at Lat14, featuring small, shareable plates inspired by Chef Ann Ahmed’s connections to Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines. Signature dishes include Braised Duck Ramen, Bangladeshi Beef Curry, Whole Fried Snapper and Pineapple Fried Rice.

Under Pressure Brewing

Afterwards, head to Under Pressure Brewing and Blendery for some modern craft brews in a charming medieval setting. They offer over 20 beers on tap and an equal number of blended beers. Not sure what to try? Choose one of their sample flights or go all in with an 8-pint flight that’s perfect for sharing with friends. Stop back for their weekly trivia nights on Thursdays and the occasional live music night on the weekend.

As you can see, Brookview is filled with outdoor fun and indoor fun is nearby too!
